“As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”
Excerpt
Welcome! If you’ve ever found yourself debugging T-SQL and Powershell in the morning and Painting, Yardwork, or any type of Home Improvement in the afternoon or evening you’ve found your tribe.
Most people think of “DIY” as either a Tech Hobby or a Construction Trade. We believe it is both. Whether you are trying to optimize your home Wi-Fi, Automate a common task, build a custom storage shed, or rig up Halloween displays, the goal is always the same: taking control of your environment and running with it.
What you will Find Here
This isn’t a blog for people who just want to call a contractor or call their IT family member for help. We want this to be for the “I can try this for myself” crowd. We cover a wide swath of Home DIY.
The Physical: Fundamentals of plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, woodworking, remodeling, and replacing appliances.
The Digital: Leverage software, tools, utilities, and hardware to help with the “Improve” in Home Improvement.
The Seasonal: Transforming the yard with custom builds and work, sprinkler improvements, holiday lights, inflatables, and decorating.
Our Philosophy: Measure Two, three, four times, Document all details with notes, documentation, images, and video
Every project here is born from a desire to learn and improve our surroundings or quality of life. We are not afraid to show the “messy side” of these projects. The stripped screws, rotted wood, poor plumbing, and software bugs, and the lessons learned, bad or good. Our blogs, images, and videos are designed to be educational, informative, and designed for the absolute beginner. We want them to be clear (translucent at least), actionable, and occasionally witty, because when you’re elbow deep in a drywall repair you may very well need a sense of humor about it.
What will we attempt to accomplish in each blog.
We are a family of DIY enthusiasts who believe in doing the job right. Because of this, the blogs may contain a lot of trial and error, research, and possible advice from some experts.
If the Blog has affiliate links anywhere you will see the following “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.” They will be displayed in Blog Headers and near each Blog link.
There is also an Affiliate Disclosure Page: My Affiliates – Page (https://meierhomediy.com/my-affiliates/)
It clearly identifies me as an Amazon Associate. Amazon Requires this exact phrase: “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.”
Each Blog will be written for beginners, that way if you need to bypass a section, just skip it.
- The Main style of Standard Project Blog will Detail extensively with Tools and Materials/Parts Lists. And, yes if there is a possible item from Amazon, the affiliate disclosure will be there with the link.
- Safety Warnings will always be include as an Integral piece. I can tell you from some past experiences, certain protection is very important. This section can also have possible Amazon affiliate links, so will have a possible disclosure also.
- The Step-by-Step Instructions are imperative to see the beginning to ending vision of what is trying to be accomplished.
- We will add some photos throughout the Blog and at the end for a Final Reveal.
Future Developments
In the future we want to look at a few more types of Blogs. Here is a brief Outline.
- Standard Project Blogs – Blogs written for beginners. Detail Tools, Materials and Parts lists. Safety Warnings and step-by-step instructions will be included. Also photos at different stages of the project.
- Product Review of a Single Product – We will take a look at a single item and do an honest review of it. We will attempt structure the blog to help readers quickly understand what the product is, who it’s for, and how will perform in the real-world DIY projects, and whether it’s worth purchasing.
- Product Roundup Best of Buyer Intent – The blog will be structured more like a buying guide than a traditional blog post. The goal will be to help readers compare products quickly, answer purchase question, and satisfy search intent for queries.
- Product Comparison A vs. B – Goal will be to help readers decide between Product A vs. Product B. It should prioritize decision-making over general information. Readers will usually look for a clear recommendation, not a lengthy review.
- Helpful How-To Guides – Should be structured so readers can quickly understand the project, gather materials, follow the steps, and troubleshoot problems.
- Shop Archive Catalog Style – This is a Hybrid between a Blog Archive, Product Catalog, and an Affiliate Site. Use a Featured Image, Product Title, Short Review, and an Amazon Affiliate Link.
- Toolkit Similar To a Guide – This format works very well for DIY blogs because it combines the usefulness of a shopping list, a project guide, and a resource hub into a single page. Instead of writing a traditional article, you’re creating a reference page that visitors can bookmark and return to whenever they tackle that type of project.
- Maintenance Lists – A maintenance-focused post works best when it’s structured as a practical checklist rather than a long article. Three things usually want to be seen quickly, What Task am I doing? What do I need? How do I do it?
- My Cool Home DIY picks of the Week – This Blog works best when it’s easy to scan, visually appealing, and consistent from week to week. Readers typically want to discover useful products, tools, project ideas or hacks quickly. We will start it with something like: The most interesting DIY tools, materials, gadgets, and project ideas we found this week.

If you are tired of cheap drills dying halfway through a project, the DEWALT DCK240C2 Combo Kit is an awesome upgrade. It strikes the nice balance between pro-level power and DIY-friendly usability. Some nice features are: Reduction in Stripped Screws, Lightweight and Compact, Two tools can be used in the work-flow; there are lights on both drills.
Some Things to Keep in Mind
Battery Life for Big Projects: The kit comes with two 1.3 Ah batteries. They charge quickly and are great for keeping the tools lightweight, but if you plan on spending a solid 8-hour Saturday building a massive fence, you might have to swap and charge them a couple of times.
The Included Bag: The canvas contractor bag is durable and great for storage, but it’s a soft bag—so things will roll around inside it together.
DIY Verdict: Stop buying cheap, disposable tools. This kit is a rock-solid investment that will last you for years of DIY weekend projects, room remodels, and furniture assemblies.

Finals Checklist Before Publishing Blogs is to Configure the Post Settings
I am going to add these items to each blogs settings to help with SEO. Search Engine Optimization is important, so I will be experimenting with these to see how they help. These specific items may not actually be seen in the Blog, but I wanted to show you so that you get a sense of how I am attempting to publish each Blog.
